Our History
1957
Aidlin Automation Founded in Brooklyn , NY by Samuel Aidlin.
1977
Aidlin Automation acquires Bradenton, FL based Arvin Automation and moves all Aidlin Automation operations to Florida.
1995
Montreal based GEBO acquires Aidlin Automation for their expertise in feeding and sorting machinery.
1997
Sidel Group, based in Laval France, acquires GEBO, adding to it’s global portfolio of equipment manufacturers.
2003
The Sidel Groups joins Tetra Laval, a Switzerland based packaging conglomerate.
2005
Tetra closes the Bradenton based Sidel facility. Sean Dotson, Doug Robertson & Bruce Naylor purchase the custom automation and robotics division that was formerly Aidlin Automation and form RND Automation.
2011
RND Automation named “Autodesk Inventor of the Year”
2012
RND Automation acquires the assets of Baytool, a Bradenton based machine shop, bringing CNC manufacturing capabilities in-house.
2014
RND moves to a new facility located in Sarasota FL.
2017
FANUC Robotics names RND Automation as the winner of their “Innovate System of the Year” award. This award is voted on by RND’s competitors and peers.
Florida Sterling Council and FloridaMakes recognized RND as the runner-up for the “Florida Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence Awards” in their category.
Named as one of “Florida’s Top 50 Companies to Watch” by Grow FL
2018
RND Automation acquires MDC Packaging Machinery, a manufacturer of medical device and consumer product horizontal and vertical form fill and seal machinery. RND relocates both business units to a brand new, state of the art 35,000 SF facility in Lakewood Ranch, FL.
2020
RND Automation acquired by Saw Mill Capital. Based in Briarcliff Manor, NY, Saw Mill Capital is a private equity firm that acquires business service, specialty distribution, and manufacturing businesses with enterprise values of $25 million to $200 million.

Key Management
Aaron Laine
EXECUTIVE MANAGING DIRECTOR
As RND Automation’s first non-owner employee, Aaron has spent time in just about every role within the company. After obtaining a Mechatronics degree from the University of Washington, Aaron moved to Florida in 2001 and has been at RND since 2007. As a SAMA (Sarasota-Bradenton Area Manufacturing Association) board member and FIRST Tech Robotics sponsor, he is passionate about robotics and automation, regularly opening RND’s doors to students from middle school age through college to gain excitement about automation and new technologies in manufacturing.
In his spare time, Aaron is an avid traveler and car enthusiast – the faster, the better.
Travis Robert
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Travis is the backbone of RND's manufacturing group. From mechanical assembly, electrical panel fabrication, machine shop operations, assembly, debug and run off; there is not a part of any RND machine that Travis is not involved with. If you need something done and need it in a hurry you can always count on Travis to get the work done.
Travis is an avid outdoors-man and enjoys hiking in the wood and mountains.
Doug Robertson
SR. MECH DESIGNER - FOUNDER
A Florida native, Doug's focus at RND is high level engineering and design of machinery. Doug also utilizes his extensive manufacturing background helping train new assemblers and technicians. He has done it all from being a machinist and welder to engineering management.
Doug enjoys fishing from his air-boat (that he custom built) at his Lake Okeechobee lake home.
Bruce Naylor
SR. MECH DESIGNER - FOUNDER
Bruce is RND's creative cornerstone. When others get stuck it's Bruce that can often solve the problem. He has been designing and building custom automation machinery for over 35 years. A Vermont native Bruce moved to Bradenton, FL when he was young and has stayed ever since.
Bruce enjoys long distance rifle shooting at the local range. He also collects vintage firearms.
